Upgrade Protocol

Video work

Upgrade Protocol is a two-channel video installation exploring identity as a system of continuous self-optimisation within digital platform culture. Drawing on Jean Baudrillard’s theory of hyperreality, the work examines how algorithmic systems, consumerism, and neoliberal ideals of self-enhancement reshape the body into a site of endless modification, where empowerment becomes entangled with commodification.

Set within a sleek yet unstable speculative future, digitally constructed bodies are replicated, upgraded, and consumed. Through references to social media aesthetics and cosmetic surgery culture, the project interrogates how digital systems reconstruct identity, desire, and perception within an era of perpetual simulation.
